Concerned about getting my retainer so late , help?

I just got my braces off on wednesday

and im not getting my retainer intill the 28th

And i can tell my teeth are already slightly shifting.. its a horrible feeling and im really worried by the time i get my retainer , it won't fit.. Suppose they have to brace me again? When i sleep my tounge has a tendency to press against my top teeth and i don't know if this has triggered any of the movement.. i keep feeling my front teeth and noticing how it seems like they want to go back where they were..

My mom didn't really notice much of a difference , maybe im just paranoid but i just know they have shifted a tiny bit.. How bad is the shifting going to be once its the 28th? Can they adjust the retainer to fit slightly crooked teeth? (if they do shift alittle bit) Or is the retainer only mean't to fit straight teeth?

Sorry for all this , its just been annoying me , thanks for reading (=

You got your braces off and they took impressions of your mouth at that stage. They sent the retainers off to the lab and when they come back they should feel a little snug because your teeth are constantly moving %26amp; will have moved a little since then. The retainer when it is returned will move your teeth back to that original stage. Have nothing to fear! Just know that it is gonna be super important to keep wearing those retainers afterwards :-)

your Orthodontist should take the time frame into consideration but not to worry they have a way to straighten those teeth that have shifted slightly by adjusting the retainer.

Thank you, Lenin Patino
Hey don't worry. 28th is not too far. You should be ok. Teeth do have some elastic memory so a slight 'spring back' is acceptable. After you wear you braces regularly, as instructed, the teeth do get restabilized in their new positions.

You may want to inform your dentist about your concern on 'tounge thrust' , just incase he decides to make one with 'spikes' on the plated to keep the tounge away.
