Getting in to Vegas Late. What to do??

I will be arriving in Vegas early on Thursday, Feb. 21st. My friend will not be arriving until later,10:30PM. She has never been to Vegas before. What can we do when she gets there. I will have already checked in. So we are going to take her stuff to the room and then we want to do one little thing that night...maybe grab something to eat. She will have worked all day, and then flown in and will probably be too tired to do too much. But we wont be there long and dont want to waste any time. What should we do. She isn't much in to gambling. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just get yourself a nice takeaway cocktail and go for a stroll along the strip. You can acquaint yourself where all the other hotels are, and you can stop off and watch the water fountain show at Bellagio. Then go for a couple of drinks in your hotel bar, and get good nights sleep for the next days activities.

Go to Fremont street and watch the light show.

Edit:Yeah it does end at midnight so with traffic you may not make it. I would say try going to a restaurant that has music and dancing, you can stay there and take in the atmosphere. Or instead of planning something just walk around. My first time there my friend and I got one of those huge margarita drinks and just walked up and down the strip checking out different spots. You never know she may not be as tired as you think, sometimes being there gives you a second wind.
I went for the very first time this time last year and had a blast. I am not much of a gambler myself. The story is, is that my husband was there on business and I had down time...i wanted to see the hotels and set and relax. So I ventured off to see the hotel I was staying in which was the red rock and it so gorgeous, let me tell ya. So anyway when he was off doing a presentation I got all dressed up went and had a really good steak and dinner and it only cost me around $8.00 not including my drink. I had rum and pepsi but anyway after i sat at the bar and ate I went and played the penny machines I think it was called jackpot party. I sat by myself and talked with other people. And enjoyed the evening until my husband was done. So then after that the next morning we went to the strip and walked around all the hotels that we could possibly get into one day. We ate at buffets and just looked around. They have stores along the way Caesars palace has stores too but they are an upscale type..so your looking at expensive..but outside there are stores like the m%26amp;m store...it has everything you can think off plus every color imaginable. And I believe it's a few stories high. And then there is the cocoa cola store. Same thing close or whatever. And reasonable i thought. But that was recommended to us when we were going just go to the strip and go through all the hotels. It's so amazing just seeing the different ones. Take your picture outside of each of the ones you toured in. I loved New York New York. Part of it looks like your actually on a street in New York. And don't forget to get a chocolate covered strawberry. They have the best there. And it smells so good...It will make you hungry. There are books you can get about touring Vegas...I would recommend getting it and reading it on the plane or before you go. I did. And it gave so many different things you can do. We also did the red rock cannon tour. It was okay but just a little to long for me. I wanted to go back to the strip. But there is so much to do there for free. Ask your hotel they will give you tips too. But it will be entertaining just to set and gamble at a machine just a bit. Believe me I am not a gambler at all.
You're out in the middle of nowhere! There is absolutely nothing to do in a littly tiny town of Vegas. There's not even a gas station or a stop light! You're lucky if you find some drinking water!

Just kidding!!!!
Las Vegas is the city that never sleeps you can do a lot if you gamble there are the casinos, if you want to get a bite to eat or drink there are buffets or just restaurants, if you want to sit in your hotel room and wait for your friends you can do that and order room service or take something or somebody to your room, until your party arrive. Its plenty to do in Vegas you just have to be open minded and do it.
You can go anywhere on The Strip safely and I beleive the Fremont Street Experience which is Downtown and safe, end at midnight.

Go to www.lasvegasnow.com and you will find more than enough to do. I would suggest you enjoy the fountains at Bellagio, the volcano at Mirage, or Madame Trousaud Wax Museum at Paris while waiting.

Eating, enjoy a long, leisurely buffet at any casino!
The party does not start until midnight. Check out the fountains of Bellagio. The Mirage has the best aquarium behind the registration desk. See if you can make it to the top of the Eiffel tower at Paris.
any where on the strip is safe you could go see a movie or go see a show
Go wherever. It's not like stuff closes.
