Why don't theater actors get into Hollywood?

I consider theather people more talented and versatile in acting compared to Hollywood stars. Hollywood stars are mostly famous for beauty and wealth but only few deserve an academy award. Theater actors have college degrees and I still don't understand why it's rare to see them enter Hollywood.

Are you kidding? You should check your theatre %26amp; film history. For people who started out in theatre, I give you: Marlon Brando, Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, Jessica Tandy, Annette Bening, Holly Hunter, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, John Malkovich, Meryl Streep, Ben Kingsley, Alec Guinness, LAURENCE OLIVIER for heaven's sake...Edward James Olmos, William Hurt, Olympia Dukakis, Robert Redford, Anne Bancroft, Jane Alexander, Julie Andrews, Jason Robards....

ALL of whom had Oscar nominations and wins. I could go on, but we'd be here all night....

Hollywood actors come from all sorts of places. Jim Carrey, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, and Billy Crystal were all standup comedians.

Patrick Stewart, Brent Spiner, Glenn Close, Ian McKellen, Lawrence Olivier, etc, etc, all had theatrical backgrounds. I think you'll find that most of the "actors" have theater behind them, while most of the "personalities" do not.
cause their the real actors that cant mess up, their live. the phony actors can screw up all day, and dont have the nervousness of a crowd.
Some theater actors do. The most famous theater actor to make it big in Hollywood is Kevin Kline. He was a well known Shakespeare actor and was on Broadway many times before he ventured to Hollywood.
Maybe it is because they love the act of acting more then the Hollywood style of entertaining. I myself, like the live theater. Being in a small town in the southern US I am amazed and grateful that there are three different theaters near me. Two in my town. When they are up there on the stage, live and so very real, unfolding their story right before my eyes, it has so much more. Perhaps they feel the same way about being in front of a live audience. :)
but if u ask me..theatre and acting on-screen is almost the same its just the matter of passion and different places.Just like Charles Shaughnessy he acted in tv and he did in Broadway before and also stage performances.
maybe they dont want to
They do! Kristin Chenoweth, who was in the musicals Wicked and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown has been in the movies Bewitched, RV, and The Pink Panther. Also Taye Diggs, who was in the musicals Rent and Chicago has been all over television and film!
because Hollywood actors are used to acting up close and being taped whereas theatrical actors are usually more dramatic and used to being on a stage.
Many "B" %26amp; "C" list Hollywood Actors are "A" list Broadway Actors. They don't often get the leading roles but a extremely prolific. John Lithgow won a Tony for his role in The Crucible a few years ago (2002).
