No don't file for bankruptcy. That stays on your credit report for 7 years. Do you have any savings? Great, if not start putting as much as you can. Direct Deposit to your savings account. Downgrade things like phone, internet, etc. Cut out the things that you truly don't need. Sell things if you have to, do anything but file for bankruptcy. Please. You will save yourself a massive headache by avoiding bankruptcy.

Wow, don't even THINK about bankruptcy unless it's a last resort. If you have excellent credit and have never been late, then just see what you can cut out and deal with your bills.
Google "Debt Management" and call one. They'll work with your budget to get your bills under control and start the process of getting out of debt WITHOUT damaging your credit. There will be a small monthly fee up to $15. You'll have 1 payment instead of however many you have now, and it will probably be less than what you're paying now.
If you have excellent credit and are all caught up you don't need to be thinking about bankruptcy. If you cannot make it on your own in the world you need to think about a better job, or a roommate, or otherwise cutting expenses. Filing for bankruptcy would be expenses and your current excellent credit would be screwed for several years, maybe forever. Work now on avoiding it. Live within your now reduced means.
If you have a bankruptcy on your credit history, you won't be able to rent a good apartment without a co-signer.

You got into this situation by buying much more than you can afford. I hope you like that stuff, 'cuz you won't be buying anything new for a while.

Right now, collect all your credit cards and lock them away so you can't use them. Pay for things only with cash until you fix the mess you made. Stop eating at restaurants, and start fixing simple, cheap meals.

Now, get all your bills together. Cancel services you don't need if there isn't a big penalty. Pick out the bills with the largest interest rates and your goal is to pay those down first. Any extra $ you have goes toward paying those bills, while keeping the other bills at minimum payment.

You can try calling your credit card companies to work a deal, but most likely it won't help you. And those credit-fixing companies work like this: You are not allowed to spend anything or use your credit cards. You hand over your paycheck to them (all of it) and they play hardball with your creditors, paying and negotiating settlements.

Settlements made in your behalf will appear on your credit record for many years, and will seriously lower your credit score. So, unless you are absolutely without willpower, I don't recommend using these guys.

It was easy to put yourself into this position and it will be much more difficult to work your way out of it. That's because you must change your bad habits and take responsibility for your finances. Are you up to it? I hope so, 'cuz the bank of mommy is closed!
